The challenge

Camcoat Performance Coatings is a Warrington specialist in ceramic, piston and exhaust coatings for motorsport and industrial customers. Highly technical work in a niche where search volumes are small but every enquiry is worth having.

The problem was that almost everyone finding them on Google already knew the name. Nearly six in ten clicks came from people searching “camcoat” or a variation of it. For the terms that actually describe what they do, the site sat at an average position of 21.9, which is page three.

The approach

Rather than chase volume, I focused on the specific technical language their customers actually use. Piston coatings, ceramic exhaust coating, cermakrome, diamondyze, performance coatings.

The work started with the technical foundations, crawlability, indexing and site structure, then moved to on page relevance for each coating service, internal linking between related services, and local targeting across Warrington and the North West.

The results

Comparing the six months to 15 August 2026 against the six months before, counting only searches that did not include the company name.

Metric Before After
Non branded clicks 43 62
Non branded impressions 3,317 9,610
Average non branded position 34.3 25.9
Keywords in the top three 11 53

Branded searches grew too, by 26 per cent, but non branded impressions grew almost three times faster. The growth came from people who did not already know the company, which is the part that matters.
