Web design in St Helens

Bespoke WordPress and Shopify builds for small businesses across Merseyside and the North West. Built to be edited by you, and to still work properly in three years.

What is included

Six things, every build.

Not a feature list. The six things that decide whether a site earns its keep.

Designed from a blank page

No template stretched to fit. The design starts from what your business actually has to say and who it is saying it to.

Built properly

WordPress or Shopify, written as a real theme. No page builder loading half a megabyte to draw a heading.

Everything editable

Every section is a field you edit yourself. You will never pay me to change a phone number or swap a photo.

Fast by default

Self hosted fonts, images sized to what the page needs, and nothing loading that the page does not use.

Findable from day one

Structure, titles and schema done while it is being built, rather than bolted on by somebody else later.

A handover that works

A walkthrough, written notes, and a care plan if you would rather never touch it.

How it works

What actually happens, in order.

  1. Scope

We agree what the site has to do, in writing, with a fixed price against it.

  2. Design

You see it before anything is built, and you tell me what is wrong with it.

  3. Build

Built, tested on real devices, and put in front of you on a staging URL.

  4. Launch

Domain and SSL sorted, email left untouched, and I am on hand for the first month.

Before you get in touch

Whether this is worth your time

A good fit if

  • You know roughly what the site has to do, or you are willing to work it out with me.
  • You want to own it and edit it yourself afterwards.
  • You can give feedback in one go rather than in drips.
  • You are replacing something that is costing you enquiries.

Probably not if

  • You need it live in a fortnight.
  • You want the cheapest quote in the pile.
  • You want a template filled in with your logo.

Proof

20+

Sites built and launched, from single page brochures to full ecommerce.

In house and freelance since 2021. The case studies here are a selection rather than the whole list, and the ones I cannot show are usually the white label ones.

Common questions

The things people actually ask.

What happens if my client wants to talk to you directly?

They do not get to, because they do not know I exist. If you want me on a call I will join as part of your team, under your name, and I will follow your lead on what gets said.

Do you sign an NDA?

Yes, and I will sign yours rather than send you mine. It has never been a sticking point.

How do you price white label work?

Day rate or fixed price per project, whichever suits the job. You get a number in writing before I start and you mark it up however you want. What you charge your client is your business and I do not want to know.

What if the client comes to me later with more work?

Then you brief me again. I will not quote a client of yours directly, and that holds after the job as well as during it.

What does a website actually cost?

It depends entirely on what it has to do, which is why I quote a fixed price against a written scope rather than a day rate. Small brochure sites and ecommerce builds are very different jobs.

Areas I cover

A real page for every place I work

Not fifty spun variations of the same town name. One proper page per place, covering the work I actually do there.

Not sure what your site should cost?

Book a call and I will tell you what I would build and what it would take, before you spend anything.
